Digital Spy have reported that Hollyoaks have began a casting search for deaf teenage charcter who at the current stage is to be a male 16 year old called Mikey. The characteris to believed to begin as a guest role but has the possibility of becoming more regular. Also, in a similar way to past casting initiatives the character will be involved in an online spin-off which will help to develop the character more on the main show.
The casting call is said to read;
"Hollyoaks is looking for a deaf actor over 16 years old. This is a brilliant role for a young deaf actor.
"After a few initial episodes, the role will feature heavily in groundbreaking online material, before returning to the show and potentially becoming a regular character.
"Actors can be fully or partially deaf, must be able to communicate in sign language, and must be either 16 or older and able to realistically play 16."
